Slappy: a mechantronic NHL notification system

Slappy is a mechanism that sounds a horn and has a hockey stick shoot a puck into a net every time an NHL team scores. NHL game scoring updates are received via a python program that uses the NHL API. Every two minutes, the program checks for a scoring update. If any team in those scores in that two minute window, the mechanism triggers and plays the scoring team’s unique goal horn. The mechanism itself consists of a dispenser arm and puck hopper, which moves the puck out onto the ice. Once the puck is dispensed, the stick winds up and shoots the puck into the net, scoring a goal. The button on the front of the box can also trigger the mechanism. This project was made by Evan Borzilleri for his midterm project for DES INV 23.
